Joy.

It’s different than contentment.

The dictionary defines joy as “a feeling of great pleasure or happiness.”

And it lists elation, glee, and delight as synonyms.

While now is the season to sing or bring JOY TO THE WORLD, try to imagine being able to evoke these feelings in everyone you meet, every single day. It might sound impossible but we all have the potential and maybe even the obligation to do what we can to create joy and happiness with the people with whom we come in contact. Patients, family members, our spouses or significant others, coworkers. Even total strangers.

This story and this video is very humbling. It moved me. And I wanted to share it with you. It’s about a hairdresser who says “she doesn’t have the answers to end homelessness, but (she’s) doing what she knows.”

This woman is extraordinary. I think we need more people who bring JOY into the world and ask nothing in return.
